導言 Introduction
自工業革命以來,設計在日常生活,以及傳統和新興產業中扮演著不可替代的角色。通過結合美感和功能,設計提高了人類的生活水平,更為現代社會帶來顯著的商業價值。
設計很大程度上取決於人的需求,同時在人們生活各方面產生重大影響。為提升讀者評賞設計的能力,本書從多角度,例如歷史、文化、美學、創意、功能、技術和商業,來評賞幾類設計品,包括時裝、平面及傳意、產品、室內和珠寶設計。
為支援本書冊,本協會網頁提供更多設計品的草圖、照片和文章,以及設計師的網頁連結等資料供讀者作進一步參考。
Design has played an irreplaceable role in everyday life, as well as traditional and emerging industries since the Industrial Revolution. Through combining aesthetics and functionality, design improves the living standard of human beings and brings commercial viability especially in the modern era.
Design is largely shaped by human needs while it also lays great impacts on various aspects of human lives. With a view to enhancing critical appreciation of design, various perspectives such as historical, cultural, aesthetic, creativity, functional, technical and commercial in relation to fashion, graphic and communication, product, interior and jewellery design are to be considered in the booklet.
In support of the booklet, the followings provide additional images, info and writings of the design works, also the web links of the designers mentioned in the booklet for further reference.

作者 Author - 陳曉茵 H Y Chan
陳氏對設計的好奇心是在90年代由已故美術老師畢子融啓發,隨後畢業於香港理工大學設計學院和香港城市大學創意媒體學院,她的設計歷程由本地到國際品牌,涵蓋時裝、配飾和視覺營銷等,足跡遍及中國內地和歐美。陳氏在2016年成立創意教育協會(ACE),向各界提供多元合作方案。為配合國家發展文化創意產業,組織香港和澳門地區的設計師參與⋯⋯
Chan's curiosity about design was sparked in the 1990s by the late art teacher Aser But, subsequently graduated from the School of Design of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University and the School of Creative Media of the City University of Hong Kong, her design journey has taken her from local to international brands in fashion, accessories and visual merchandising etc., across the Mainland China, Europe and the US. Chan established the Association for Creative Education (ACE) in 2016 to provide diversified collaborative programmes for different sectors.
